The Canopy over the Island has an Antique Sword Crest Holder that is dated from 1597 and was given as a Gift to the Best of the Black Knights. How much it`s worth, we have no idea.
All the Trim was Installed with Square Nails to give a Truly Olden Look. These Nails were purchased from Companies in Scotland and the Eastern USA. These Companies are the only 2 places in the World these nails can be purchased in the world today.
The Interior Doors are also Solid Wood Doors that add to the Home`s Decor. These Doors Match the Kitchen Cabinets Doors also. These doors were made in Chile and sent up to us from South America.
When you come in the Main Entrance, the first thing you will realize is that you came into a Solarium to grow Flowers and Vegetables. The room is a 22`X10` Foyer/Solarium. The room was designed and built to be able to grow all Your Own Vegetables All Year Round. It has a regular Soil Growing System as well as a Hydroponic Growing System.

The 10 Acre Lake (which the neighbors call the property `The House on Golden Pond` out of the Movie with Henry Fonda) had to be Drained and then Dredged out Down to the Granite Rocks when it was in its Dry State. When the Lake was being Dredged, the Soil had to be Separated into Different Piles of Top Soil and Clay. Then, the Soil that was removed from the Lake Area had to sit for over a year to let it dry out enough so it could be moved. At the same time the Dam had to be Designed and Built. Once the Soil was Moved, it was put into 2 Separate Piles. One for Top Soil and One for Clay. Then the clay was moved into areas that needed fill. As for the Top Soil, it was Screened and Spread over any and all the Lawn areas, Flowerbeds, and Vegetable Gardens.
Many Contractor/Landscapers said we only needed between 10-20 Truck Loads of Top Soil to do the job but since we had dug out over a 150 Truck Loads of Top Soil out of the Lake Area meant we didn`t have to go Chinsy on any of the Lawn & Flower Bed Areas. When you add it all together, we moved and Installed over 1500 Truck Loads of Top Soil, Clay and Gravel to complete this Project. We were able to put 4-6` of Top soil in all Lawn Areas when most Contractors said we only needed 1-2`. The nice thing about having deeper Top Soil on the Lawn areas meant the Grass will Not Burn Off in the Summer Months if we have a Hot, Dry, Summer.

The Lake is up to 25` Deep in some areas to Give Fish a Good Healthy Habitat.
There is an Island in the centre of the pond complete with a 24` high Old Fashion Wind Mill. The Windmill which adds character to the Lake also serves another Purpose. It Aerates the Lake to Give the Fish any Needed Oxygen to help keep the Fish Happy and Healthy.
The Lake is Stocked with Large Mouth Bass, Blue Gills, and Cat Fish Otherwise Known as Mud Cats or Cajun Cat Fish, as well as lots of Minnows for the Larger Fish to Feed On. If Asian Carp Evade the Trent Canal System like they are expected to do, places like this might be the only place to get Fresh Fish in the Future in Ontario.
The Dam has an Arch Bridge over it to hide the Working Parts. The Dam Automatically Regulates the Depth of the Water Level in the Lake.
There is an Electric Boat with its own Boat Dock, a Boat Lift, and a Sandy Beach for the Kids to go Swimming in the Summer and Skating in the Winter.
The Building Inspector Ask me if We wouldn`t Mind Putting Him in Our Wills. He then stated that he felt this house is one of the Best Built/Energy Efficient Homes in Haliburton County. He also stated he Liked the Layout Very Much. Oh yes. We haven`t put him in Our Wills Yet.
Every Time we ask Him for an Inspection when We were Build this Home, He Would Say why should he do an Inspection, since he said he already knew Everything was going to be OK. It`s nice he thinks that highly about our workmanship. By the way, we Got the Inspections Anyways.
