The House on Literary Hill is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites. It was built in 1885 by a Captain J. E. Devaughn who fought for the Confederacy in three major battles during the Civil war. His wife, Molly Porter, was a professor of music at the Griffin Female College in Griffin GA. Molly`s collection of Civil War music is the largest in the state of Georgia at Swann House in Atlanta. The house is a neo-classical design with a large stained glass window on the stairwell.
