History of the mansion The Gencsi family came into sight among landowners of Ilosva in 1586, then reappears in the second half of the 17. century, and from there possessed the village over a century and a half. The family`s huge mansion, which probably was built at the beginning of the 17. century, is to be found next to the Reformed Church. By taking into state ownership the building was converted into a state institution. Due to the change of regime in Romania the state institution left the mansion and was left to erosion. In the early 21th century a private person bought the building. In the following years the clarification of property status became settled, as well as the registration of transfer of property to the name of the owner
Reparation of the roof In 2007 the reparation of the complete roof was realized. The roof of the mansion was entirely ruinous. The focus in the restoration of the ruinous roof was on using materials of good quality to last another three hundred years. Therefor the wooden structure is entirely new but the roof tiles on it are original which were selected after a careful selection. On the roof system new rain gutters were installed. The collected rainwater is led in a cistern in order to make use of it in watering.
Reconstruction In 2008 the building`s interior and exterior restoration was carried out. The purpose was to to bring it as close to original condition as possible. The decoration elements were photographed, and both interior and exterior plaster was stripped to the brick. The original interior room division was opened up and restored during the work but some changes have been made at the owner`s request. Now the mansion consists of two apartments with separate entrance and the basic area is about 370 m2. The bigger one contains 8 places, the smaller contains 5 places and the rooms are soundproofed. The restoration comprised of the strengthening of buildings foundatuion with reinforced concrete and construction of a cesspit with the necessary underground- connecting. This beautifully renovated mansion in the middle of the village is awaiting to be finished by a new owner.
