Samuel von Brukenthal (born July 26, 1721, common Nocrich, Sibiu - died April 9, 1803, Sibiu). Governor of Transylvania (1777-1787).

Descendant of a family of lawyers, his grandfather and father were judges in Nocrich. The original name was Brekner family. For his father was knighted (1724), received the title of `von Brukenthal`. Another part of the collection was acquired in Transylvania. Since 1773, its collections were included in an almanac to be among the most valuable private collections located in Vienna time.
