The House :

Originally, it is an old farmhouse built two centuries ago.

The building has been completely restored preserving the location and existing walls whose thickness varies from 60 to 80 cm thick, assuring freshness in summer and heat in winter.
The original stone, lime and sand walls have been fully restored and covered with protective coatings.
The restoration in 2007 meets the old architecture inspired by old farmhouses in Algarve and the neighboring Arab-Andalusian style.

All exterior windows and doors are new. They were custom made with exotic wood (rot and moisture resistant) and fitted with double glazing for a perfect thermal insulation.
All the floors of the house have been renovated, insulated and fitted to insert a modern floor heating ensuring a pleasant comfort during temperate winters in the Algarve. This solution also allowed to avoid the installation of bulky radiators in every room.
The low temperature underfloor heating is provided by a heat pump AIR / WATER of German manufacturing : Dimplex ( heat-pumps ) and regulated by wall thermostats.
The hot water for 4 bathrooms and kitchen is also provided by a heat pump Dimplex. ( heat-pumps )

The free water borehole in the property was made in 2008 by a specialized company. This borehole, 240 m deep, draws 100% pure drinking water from a large underground lake fed by many sources and underground rivers.

A submersible pump feeds a sealed underground tank beside the house for a capacity of 80m3 to ensure 24/24H water for domestic use as well as useful for the maintenance of the garden and pool.
Firefighters have a water supply available on site in case of fire.
The water is pressurized with a pump unit for supply house, garden and pool. This solution feeds free water on the property.
Drilling for water has been certificated by local authorities (authority certificate).
The wastewater unit is installed according to the official standards and received a certificate of compliance by the local authorities.
