Rancho de Caldera is a stunning property located on 50+ gorgeous acres. While I ran it as a resort for several years, it is currently closed to the public and is my private residence. I currently have renters in some of the cabins. The property is ideal as a retreat center, an amazing family compound, or an eco-resort.

The private residence has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 baths on the main floor, including a steam bath and an outdoor Jacuzzi. Also, it has a huge living room/dining room area with 3 walls made of sliding glass doors, and an open kitchen with an adjacent pantry. The master bedroom has 2 walk-in closets, a full bath with a large shower/steam bath combo, as well as a stunning, private, outdoor, covered patio with a Jacuzzi and an outdoor shower; additionally there is a lovely screened in porch off of the master bedroom, which can be used as a study and sitting area. There is a large, covered porch surrounding 3 sides of the house, along with a lovely rooftop garden. On the lower level of the main house, there are 2 guest rooms, 2 baths, an office, exercise room, laundry room and employee lounge, all of which are adjacent to the restaurant and pool area.

There are 3 sets of cabins, with 3 individual, connecting units in each set, for a total of 9 individual cabin units. Together, each set becomes, in essence, a 2 bedroom house, with the left unit having 2 queen beds and a large, walk-in double shower; the middle unit has a full kitchen, sofa set, dining area and (Murphy) queen bed; and the right unit has a king bed and bathtub/shower combo. Each unit within each set connects through a hallway and the doors can be locked for privacy between units.

The yoga pavilion is a 40` X 40` open, covered space with no columns, ideal for yoga, parties, receptions and/or meetings. Additionally, there is a 10 foot covered porch surrounding the space on 3 sides, and there are 2 bathrooms. The entrance is made of coral brought in from the US and the small pond by the entry to the pavilion is stocked with koi. The entire resort was built with top of the line materials and a qualified construction crew (the same crew started and finished the project, and is still available for further construction or projects).

More pictures of the resort, the cabins, and the property can be found on Rancho de Caldera`s (). Additional pictures and excellent reviews can be found on Trip Advisor.

Rancho is totally off the grid, with several hydro-electric generators to provide power in the rainy season and 76 solar panels to provide power in the dry season. There is a back-up diesel generator used for back-up power. New batteries were installed in 2013 and are expected to last up to 22 years.

Rancho de Caldera is located in the town of Caldera, 25 minutes from downtown Boquete. The elevation, at around 1400 feet, is lower than Boquete and higher than David, creating perfect year round temperatures in the mid-80s. It is quiet and serene in Caldera, making Rancho a perfect getaway spot.

Rancho de Caldera is currently closed and I am living in the US, while visiting Panama every couple of months. I reduced staff significantly when I closed Rancho, but my current staff would be available for hire, and they are all trustworthy and long-time employees (this is a very big deal – it takes time and effort to find good people with good work ethics) . I believe many of the employees that I let go would still be available for rehire. All licenses and permits for running this turnkey operation are current.

It took a full 8 years to build Rancho. Rancho was open for several years, but was under construction the entire time I was open. I closed it in September of 2012 when I decided to move back to the US. I discovered that I am a better creator than a hotel operator. I am not good at repetitive tasks and really didn`t like marketing – not a good formula for business success. However, with the completion of the pavilion in late 2013, Rancho is now ideally suited to become an amazing retreat center or eco-resort; it enhances the entire property. Having had it essentially as a family compound for the last year plus, I can say with confidence that it is a great family compound!

Rancho can be any number of things, depending on what you are looking for - a lovely eco-resort, a private residence with rental properties or an amazing family compound consisting of a beautiful residential home and 3 2-bedroom houses.
