There is also small holms and islets just outside it, and the Big Island Silda dominates.

Bergsfjord is a village in Loppa Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located on the mainland part of Loppa Municipality, along the Bergsfjorden, across from the island of Silda. The village of Sør-Tverrfjord lies about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) to the southwest, across the fjord. The Svartfjellet mountain lies about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) straight east of the village, alongside the Svartfjelljøkelen glacier.

Bergsfjord has no road connections to the rest of Norway. It is only accessible by ferry from the nearby villages of Øksfjord.

There has been permanent settlement until 20 years after World War 2 in Bergfjord. It was previously the center of Loppa municipality, with substantial industries based on fish, and has establishments all around the village. The village had its own power station, which was destroyed by burning in 1944. One can still see remnants of the industrial site along the river in the village, on Kuholmen, and up along the river towards the new dam. There is still remnants on the road to the existing power stations. In Langholmen the remains of a cemetery, which we don’t know the age of. It is possibly from the time about the Black Death that ravaged here north around 1350. They have found remains from the Vikings, and the
people who lived here in the late Middle Ages. The village is a gem for people who want a vacation in a quiet manner, with beautiful nature as its nearest neighbor.
For boat tourist, it may be helpful to know that Bergfjord have a boat ramp and mechanical shop.
Meanwhile, there are several guest spots available at floating pier with access to the electricity and water.
The place also has diesel filling for boats. By the floating dock, there is also boat ramp for small boats.

ACCESS
Direct flights from Oslo to Alta, then rental car/public bus from Alta to Øksfjord. From Øksfjord you can take the fast ferry or the car ferry to Bergsfjord. You can travel to and from Bergsfjord anyday of the week.

In Bergsfjord you will find
Primary school, fishing industry (where the fishing boat will deliver the catch), grocery store, small ship yard, fishing camps and Bergsfjord Lodge.

What to do in Bergsfjord.
In Bergsfjord the fishing season begins in early March and continues till October. The local waters are an important fishing ground of trophy Atlantic cod, especially in March and April, when huge shoals of parent Atlantic cod come to the coast to spawn. It is common here to catch individuals whose weight exceeds 20 kg, and if you are lucky, you can catch cod weighing about 30 kg. But the main reason why fishermen took a fancy to fishing in Loppa is halibut. Vast sandbanks around the islands of Silda and Loppa are the best place for catching trophy halibut, which are caught there all the year round. A big advantage of this locality is its location among fiords, where you can fish even if the weather is very bad.
Not far from Bergsfjord there are many good fishing grounds. It takes 15 to 30 minutes to get to the very best places on the islands of Silda and Loppa.

Loppa administrative division located in Øksfjord have boat spaces for rent, you can contact the administrative division for quotes. You can also you the ramp next to the Marine to launch the boat. Many people use the ramp and store the boats on their property when leaving Bergsfjord. You will not find a better place for sports fishing than Bergsfjord.

What to do in Bergsfjord es fishing, at Bergsfjord you can make a large number of trips to the surrounding country. The local mountains, lakes and glaciers are ideal for both short walks and exacting hikes. Bergsfjord is a small village situated in a splendid country, which has not been hit by tourism yet, and has a permanent population of about 70.

For those who like, it is also possible to take a lovely walk to the higher situated Bergsfjordvatnet. This hike takes about 30 minutes and you end up at a beautiful mountain lake where you can fish for trout.

What to do in Bergsfjord cont. Bergsfjord is, as the name describes, a small place located between mountains and fjords. There are inviting ski peaks in all directions. To get to Bergsfjord it is the sea route that applies. There are no roads here. Once in place, there are only three kilometers of road. To get on the trip, strap on our skis at the front door or use a boat. Bergsfjord in Loppa is an undiscovered top hiking paradise with endless opportunities for beautiful descents and strong nature experiences. The possibility of getting the first
track both down (and up) is absolutely present. Maybe it will also be a trip where no one else has been before? This is a depopulated area.

Cloudberries sparkle in the marshlands of Arctic Norway for a few weeks every summer. The fruit of the cloudberry plant is an amber-colored fruit that resembles raspberries and blackberries. Prized for its scarcity just as much as the flavour it brings to Norwegian desserts, the cloudberry, known as multe in Norwegian.
