``Montanha Lodge is nestled between dunes which line the turquoise patterned waters of the warm
Indian Ocean in the trendy Mozambique resort destination of Barra which is situated in Inhambane,
Mozambique.
The district boasts one of the largest plantations of palm trees worldwide and this vegetation
combined with the endless pristine beaches, soft sea breezes and sparkling clear ocean give this
stretch of the peninsula a rare taste of that balmy island fever.

Originally named Terra de Boa Gente or `Land of the Gentle People` by Vasco da Gama in the late
1400`s, the sheltered, scenic bay of Inhambane is one of the oldest settlements on the East Coast
and was, in its heyday, a significant port. Today, the district still houses the largest fleet of working
dhows in Mozambique.

Suggestions
If this is your first visit to Mozambique, please be careful in the sun and use sun lotion, it is
stronger than you think!
Medical facilities are limited, but there is a doctor and hospital in Inhambane.
There is a pharmacy in Inhambane where most medicines can be bought, or a derivative thereof.
Please contact us for the trading hours of the stores and market in Tofu and Inhambane.
Mozambique currency can be drawn from your SA account using VISA cards at most bank ATM`s,
and money can be exchanged at various places, we will advise you where it is safe and best to do
this.
We try and keep the prices of goods sold by vendors (such as woodwork, seafood, paintings etc)
reasonable and of good standards, so please be prepared to bargain for these and find out from us
what a reasonable price would be before purchasing.`
