The Durmitor massif (and National Park) is
bounded by Tara River Canyon on the
north, Piva River Canyon on the west, and
by Komarnica River Canyon on the south.
To the east, Durmitor is open to a 1,500 m
(4,921 ft) high plateau, called Jezerska
Površ (Plateau of Lakes). Sinjavina
mountain is located to the east of Jezerska
Površ plateau. The massif has 48 peaks
above 2,000 m (6,562 ft). Durmitor features
18 glacial lakes, scattered over mountain
massif and Jezerska plateau. The lakes
add significantly to the beauty of the
mountain, and have been nicknamed
Gorske Oči, or Eyes of the Mountain. This
breathtaking national park was formed by
glaciers and is traversed by rivers and
underground streams. Along the Tara river
canyon, which has the deepest gorges in
Europe, the dense pine forests are
interspersed with clear lakes and harbour a
wide range of endemic flora and fauna.
Because of its geographical location and
range in altitude, the park is under the
influence of both Mediterranean and Alpine
microclimates, which has resulted in an
exceptional range of species. There are 37
species taxa endemic to the area and six
specific to Durmitor. The park contains one
of the last virgin black pine forests in
Europe. Durmitor National Park is accepted
as a World Heritage site in 1980.
This piece of land (46309m2) is located 300
meters from Savin Kuk Ski Center, the
biggest in Montenegro. It is partially covered
with young beech forest (20m high). One
end is marched with municipality land and
three with private land. It is outside of
borders of National Park, witch means
easier building permissions procedure. Its
location is less then two hours of driving
from sea coast of Montenegro and the most
beautiful bay in Adriatic sea - Bokokotorski
Zaliv.
