Residence permit (for all Your family)

On 1st of July, 2010, changes were applied
to the Immigration law and new rules of the
Ministry about temporary residence permit
in virtue of purchased real estate took
place. The cost of real estate (one object or
sum of costs of several objects) in Riga,
Riga vicinity or Jurmala should be no less
than 100 000 LVL (approx. 145 000 EUR).

Temporary residence permit, which is
issued for a period of 5 years, will allow the
investor to stay in Latvia incessantly until
the expiration date of the permit, and visit
countries of the Shengen Agreement for up
to 90 days during a 6 month period.
Temporary residence permit also applies to
family members of the investor. Moreover,
by acquiring a residence permit through real
estate, the investor also obtains a working
permit which allows to work in any Latvian
company.

With residential permit the client has the
right to request and receive a visa (USA, UK
and other countries) in Latvian diplomatic
mission of these countries. Also this permit
allows establishing credit in Latvian banks,
sending children to European educational
institutions and providing medical care for
relatives in any European country.

Herewith Latvia offers comfortable
residence conditions � extensive coast line
and developed infrastructure allow having
qualitative and comfortable pastime.
Besides, there is a possibility to use the
purchased real-estate in commerce by

After the expiration of temporary residence
permit it is possible to request a permanent
residence permit or extend the temporary
permit.

Having acquired a residence permit, the
client does not become a tax resident of
Latvia until he starts economic activity in
Latvia or receives a salary. The residence
permit holder becomes a tax resident after
180 days from the day he started economic
activity/began receiving salary/rented out

Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs
