This is a semi-detached house on two levels; the very friendly neighbors live on the lower floor. It`s very quiet (the road ends a few kilometers up the hill and there`s very little traffic).

The house is situated at an altitude of 1,000 meters, with a pleasant view of the village. The main town (Condove), with all its services, can be reached in 15 minutes on a well-maintained mountain road with snow removal where necessary, and there is a reliable, regular rail link to Turin (you`re right in the center in 38 minutes by train) in the Val di Susa.

In the hamlet, just 50 m away, there`s a bar/restaurant/shop selling local produce, open all year round, 6 days a week, with an impressive view of Turin (35 km away). In the surrounding area, mountainous but not at all oppressive, there are many authentic Piemontese villages that are quite lively (yoga and dance classes, a library and plenty of hiking opportunities...) The human atmosphere is very friendly and supportive.

Natural gas and wood-fired heating, good insulation, double-glazed windows. No work required.

There are no particular difficulties in buying a house in Italy. It`s a very good deal for those who dare; the Italians haven`t yet made the most of their hinterland in terms of property prices. The people here are generally very friendly and work well together. I`m very happy here, but I`m moving for family reasons...
