In prehistoric times the area was one of the important Piceni parking.
Belmonte was significant center for processing raw amber from the Baltic lands,
the Romans established a colony on the ancient Roman ruins, Farfa monks rebuilt the church tower and gave the castle near sull`altura, the name of Belmonte.
In 1263 the Fermani obtained the dedication of the castle, around which, in later centuries, it is the current city center.
