Stóri-Bakki is located in the heart of East Iceland, only 25km distance to Egilsstađir town and just 5km off the ringroad (1), the road all tourists are driving around Iceland.
The area is called Hróarstunga, it is a very peaceful place with not much traffic around.
Stóri-Bakki is the most popular place in the east for tourists to go on horseback. We have unique trails that you don´t find somewhere else in the east.
At Stóri-Bakki there are 3 summerhouses that can be rented to guests. Until now we have only rented two of them. The houses are fully booked the whole year around. The income from the tourist business is very much.
Stóri-Bakki has also a new horsestable, builded in 2010. It has a high standard and is very beautiful. If there is no interest in horses there is also the possibility to change the horsestable into a hotel.
Next to the farm is the river Jökulsá, that is now famous for salmon fishing. Stóri-Bakki owns a part in the river, so there will be an income as well through the fishing.
The size of the land is 25,7 hectare, of that 18,5 hectares of grassland that gives around 300 heybales.
Stóri-Bakki is connected to a fiber optic internet.
Since 2016 the farm has its own borehole with fresh and clean water.
The big farmhouse gets its energy for heating through a heatpump that was bought and installed in 2017.
All land was newly fenced in 2017, so there are no animals (sheeps) getting into the land.
The business is running very well and the new owner immediatly has a very big income, but of course it is also possible to just live on the farm or rent it.
