second finger of the Halkidiki Peninsula. It is
right on the sea, a kilometre away from the
village of Neos Marmaras, and about 1.5
kilometres from the Porto Carras Hotel. The
total extent of the property is 6,700 square
metres.
Neos Marmaras lies on the peninsula of
Sithonia. It is 100 kilometres from
Thessaloniki Airport and 55 kilomtres from
Polygyros, the capital of Halkidiki. Neos
Marmaras is a small town with a population
of 2,854 inhabitants, at the edge of the
Sithonia peninsula. It has a local
government council in its own right. Neos
Marmaras is visited every year by many
tourists, combining, as it does, sea and
mountains.
Around Marmaras there are countless small
lakes and in areas outside the village there
are beautiful, small, isolated beaches and
groups of small islands (Spalathronisia).
These are accessible either by boat from
the sea or by car/motorcycle and visitors
can enjoy the pristine turquoise sea and the
golden sun. The deserted island of Kelifos
is also of interest, with its
wild goats, rich fishing and wonderful deep
waters which are a paradise for
photographers who dive. Marmaras lies on
the road axis to Sithonia and is linked to all
the villages in the peninsula by public
transport. Several buses also run every day
to Thessaloniki, via Moudania or Polygyros.
The village has its quota of public services,
such as an Agricultural Health Centre,
Banks (National, Eurobank),
Telecommunications Company, Post Office,
Post Office Savings, Customs and Harbour
Authority.
