One can climb the 999 steps to the `Palamidi` or get there by car and you can also take one of the boats which leave regularly, for trips to the castle in the sea. Both the castles are lit-up at night which adds to the beauty and splendour of the bustling town.
The pretty, colourful harbour invites romantic walks and the town comes alive in the evening.
The pretty resort of Tolon is only 7 km away. Here you can find a beautiful sandy beach, which is popular with the tourists, bars/cafeterias and tavernas.
Karathona, which also has a lovely sandy beach and beautiful view, is only a few minutes by car. Karathona has a couple of tavernas and some bars/cafeterias. The beach is popular with the locals.
A smaller beach can be found in Nafplio, at Arvanitia as you take a pleasant stroll around AkronNafplia.
Due to the layout, beautiful views and ancient monuments, both foreign and Greek tourists enjoy visiting this charming place. It is a city renowned for its castles and beauty. Besides this, there is an archaelogical museum to visit, located in a Venetian building of 1715. It houses Mycenaen and prehistoric findings from all over Argolida. You can also find potteries of the Mycenaen times and the copper suit of armour which dates back to 1450 and earthen masks and shields until stoned vessels. There is a mosque in Syntagmatos square and one can also visit the Church of Spyridonas where Kapodistrias was murdered. Also see `The Bavarian Lion` which is a piece of sculpture by the German sculpturer Siggel.
Stroll around the ancient pathways and sense the atmosphere of olden times and past history.
Drive to nearby Myceanes and the theatre of Epidravros for day trips. You can also visit the nearby islands of Spetses,Hydra and Poros.
