Jadrija, one of city quarters of �ibenik, is
located on the peninsula of Srima, about 14
km from the city centre. It is a favourite
weekend settlement of the inhabitants of
�ibenik, as well as on of their favourite
places for swimming.

The Adriatic road (Magistrala) connects it
with �ibenik. There are also regular boat
lines Jadrija-�ibenik during the summer
months. This bathing-place was founded in
1921 on the islet of St. Andrija. �ime
Grubi�ić � Rovilo, a notable man from
�ibenik and a lover of nature, initiated the
building of the town bathing facilities.
Numerous respectable citizens of �ibenik
contributed with their own money.

Ante Frua, also from �ibenik, and well-known
for his persistent work on afforesting,
together with other lovers of landscape,
planted a dense pine forest in Jadrija.
Today, Jadrija represents a settlement with
about 500 family weekend houses. It is also
well known for various water sports
possibilities.

�ibenik is a historic town in Croatia,
located in central Dalmatia where the river
Krka flows into the Adriatic Sea. �ibenik is
the political, educational, transport,
industrial and tourist centre of �ibenik-
Knin County.

�ibenik has a Mediterranean climate, with
mild, humid winters and hot, dry summers.
January and February are the coldest months,
July and August are the hottest months. In
July the average maximum temperature is
around 30 �C (86 �F). The K�ppen Climate
Classification subtype for this climate is
`Cfa` (Humid Subtropical Climate).

Vodice is a very popular tourist destination
in Croatia, with most of the population
oriented towards tourism and providing
