Novalja is a popular tourist destination on the island of Pag, offering many opportunities of active and variable holiday. The beauty of the landscape manifests itself mainly in its picturesque beaches - Zrće, Caska, Straško, Babe, Trinćel, Braničevica i Vrtić. The most outstanding of them is the Zrće beach – one of the largest and most beautiful beaches of the Adriatic Sea. The history of Novalja is long and rich and it is reflected in the historic remains which can be found there. One of the most famous is the unique aqueduct built in stone in 1st century. Once it was used to carry water to Novalja.
Due to its geographic location, Novalja offers various opportunities of attractive tourist trips – from one day boat trips to the neighbouring islands of Rab, Lošinj, Silba and Olib to a visit in Zadar or the national parks of Kornati, Krka, Plitvička Jezera, Paklenica and Sjeverni Velebit.
PAG is the fifth biggest of Croatian islands (length: 60 km, width: 2 to 10 km), with the longest coastline (302,47 km). The population is about 8000 (in 2001). The island is a summer tourist resort, frequently visited for its charming beaches in picturesque bays among the rocks. On the island there are diving centers and historic monuments: old Slavonic churches and Roman and Venetian remains. From its southern side the island can be reached by the bridge (toll-free crossing), built in 1968, and from the northern side by the Žigljen-Prizna ferry line.

The island is dominated by the Mediterranean climate. The valleys surrounding the bays are covered with vineyards and olive groves, and salt is extracted from the bay water. The island of Pag offers unique shapes, wild exotic, quiet oases, mountain paths and shallow bays and it takes some time to see it all. And for those with the explorer spirit, a visit to the northern part of the island can be recommended during the summer – then it can be an unforgettable experience among the extraordinary world of sea and rocks, away from the city buzz.
