Straw Bale Barn was custom built by owner. Foundation is 32 ton concrete monolithic pour with 6 inch Styrofoam under pad and on sides of pad for a super insulated pad . Also pad has in floor pex pipe for in floor heat.
Barn stood on it`s own before straw bale was installed for insulation,all interior walls are 2x8. 200 sheets of 3/4 inch standard spruce sheeting ( no osb(osb).Engineered trusses and
loft floor.
650 dry wheat straw straw bale on main floor with 10 foot straw bale in loft in gambrel ends,four window dormer and dormer in bathroom.
6 tons of potter`s clay was mixed with sand,water and chopped straw and applied by hand. 3 coats on all straw. Mixed clay paint for finish color.
12000 board feet of oiled rough cut lumber for interior finish. Softwood 6 inch pine flooring in loft.
Tin roof with r-80 roxul insulation in roof.
