One acre off-grid paradise! This historic property was once the site of the Pioneer School, the first school in the Bralorne area, and borders the `ghost` townsite of Pioneer. A year round creek flows through the property and the flat bench accomodates (currently) three cabins and new stone and log roundhouse, in the `natural home` style that has become so popular. Although not yet a business, the opportunity is here for the taking. A turn-key cabin rental or campground concept, outdoor school or corporate retreat? Maybe just shared among family or hunting buddies? This beautiful property has something for everyone and anyone who loves the great Canadian outdoors. Gated and secure, you wll rarely hear or see anyone, except deer, moose, bear, marten, wolverine and other creatures of nature. Outside the town of Bralorne, the last property on highway 40. It is situated above the Cadwallader creek and directly atop the original Pioneer Mine site, ground zero of Canada`s biggest gold camp. The original mine workings and whats` left of the mill is literally a 5 minute walk away. Outdoor recreation options are endless in all seasons, but the area is famous for winter sports. Backcountry skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing are hugely popular. 4 wheeling, mountain biking and motorcycing fills the summer months. It`s a beatiful place with incredible history and just 2 hours north of Whistler via Hwy 99, to the Hurley FSR road, The Duffy route from Pemberton through Lillooet, or the Fraser Canyon from Hope through Lillooet. The area is enjoying a huge uptick in interest and property rates are climbing fast due to the proximity to Whistler. The Upper Bridge River Valley is one of the few remaining affordable places along the lower west coast.
The cabins are typically rustic and include woodstoves, kitchens with cold water, outhouse toilets and common outdoor kitchen. There are two wood fired hottubs and a sauna as well as a pond to plunge into if you dare. The two guest cabins were built by our family in the early 1980s, largely from materials taken from the ghost town sites. Hardwood floors, wood heat and heavy enamel sinks are hallmarks of that era. There s a small third cabin, an A frame, with a sleeping loft, which is popular with our guest`s kids, who like to have their own space away from the adults, and vice versa.
The main home was built over the past 10 years, made from stones left over from the mine`s ore dumps. The logs were culled from the property, it is roughly 1500 sq/ft in an oval shape It has an EPDM rubber roof membrane (to accomodate a living roof) , a full bathroom with septic system, propane and wood heat. Lighting stereo and internet power is provided by a 4000 watt solar array. There are generators too, but they rarely need to be run. With flush toilets and grey water lines, its got most of the modern conveniences you`d expect in a traditional home, without the monthly power bill there`s treeforts, fire pits, a year round creek and more that make this little homestead really special. Your family will create memories that will last generations, as ours has.
