Now, you`ll probably have gathered by now that we specialize in interesting mountain properties in this area, so when we were shown this apartment, I wasn`t expecting much……..but once seen, I could see what a wonderful place this is. Ideal for those who love looking at nature and gardens rather than spending all their time digging ;)

The apartment is in a very smart village just over an hour from Sofia Airport in a NE direction, popular with wealthier Sofians and still with a sense of community. There are 3-4 shops and bars and the practical town of Yablanitsa is 15 km away for all your needs. Karlugerovo is a quiet and peaceful village, with a very safe reputation and almost no empty houses – we`ve been trying to find them for ages! The surroundings are high hills covered in forests and the River Iskar flowing through – really very lovely indeed, equal to anything in the whole of Europe.
The apartment is first floor, has 2 bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, hallway, upstairs attic (plenty of headheight) and a large outside balcony. The property has it`s own entrance and stairway, undercover parking and a yard of about 100m2, largely slabbed at the moment. There is a shed and a further storeroom with exclusive use.
With a central village location, not overlooked but with neighbours, this place has a very relaxed, civilized feel, perfect for year-round or occasional use, very safe and secure and somewhere to enjoy – retirees perhaps?
The owner has worked hard on the entire property, the roof is new and very well constructed, all windows are double glazed, guttering replaced – everything ship-shape! The kitchen and bathroom are in perfect working order, but you might want to give them a facelift to UK tastes. The house retains it`s 30`s character, the double glazing is wood, lots of period features remain and no need to live somewhere characterless to get some practicality. Floors are solid wood or tiled, lots of interesting storage thanks to the curved frontage, this is somewhere to get really enthusiastic about!
The attic is properly floored and the roof lined, so this is a very useable space with windows to the river, currently has been used as an artists` studio, but there are plenty of options.
Well worth a look, a very practical and beautiful choice and surely a better investment than some poorly-built , bland modern apartment in an unappealing area – come and sit on the huge balcony, watching the birds and listening to the river to be convinced……….
