Riverbend Farm is a river front agricultural
property situated 36km from Maun on the
Francistown road, near the village of
Chanoga.

The property is characterized by fertile
soils suitable for crop production. The
company holds a Memorandum of Agreement of
Lease for 50 years with effect from 25 March
2011 over 166.67ha of land adjacent to the
Boteti River, registered under Tribal Lease
.

The company has water rights for 7250 cu m
per day from the Boteti River.

40 hectares has been cleared and fenced, and
a 30ha centre pivot irrigation system has
been installed.

Water is pumped from the river via a Hatz 53
Kw pump.

Water for the homestead is pumped from the
river, into PVC pipes, through a sand filter
and stored in a 5000l Jojo tank, with a
further filter for purification. Electricity
is provided by solar power. Sewerage is by
septic tank and soakaway.

The property is approximately 1km off the
main tar road.

Improvements include an established lawn and
garden with underground irrigation system
around the cottages, and an established
vegetable garden with drip irrigation and
germination table.

The cottages have thatched roofs on gum pole
trusses over sand bag walls plastered and
painted internally, and plastered with mud
fining externally. Windows and large sliding
doors are aluminium framed and glazed. Earth
floors with sealed mud finish. (52sq m ea)

The garage is constructed from a mono
pitched corrugated iron roof on timber
rafters over sand bag walls with a mud
finish externally. It has one steel lock up
garage door, and another battened timber
door. There is solid concrete floor slab
cement screeded to a smooth finish. (50sqm)

The solar station is constructed with solar
panel roof on timber supports clad with
canvas with a suspended timber floor deck.
The solar array produces sufficient power to
run the lights in the cottages and kitchen,
a fridge, freezer, fully automatic washing
machine, microwave, electric iron, vacuum
cleaner, computer and printers and
cellphones.

We grow Rhodes grass under irrigation for
fodder and green mealies for sale in the
local market, with the residual crop stover
from the maize being made into cattle feed.

We have approximately 1800 bales of hay
(25kg each) on hand. This is worth about
P100 000. We produce about 8000 bales of hay
per year. We have regular customers and our
customer base is growing.
