Alanya, the Pearl of the Turkish Riviera, is
a stunning vibrant resort town located on
the southern tip of the Turkish
Mediterranean coast.

To the east and west, seemingly endless
stretches of beach fringed by the inviting
turquoise waters of the mediterranean; to
the North, the magnificent Toros mountains
look down upon what is arguably the most
attractive resort on the Riviera.

Alanya experiences over 300 days of sushine
per year. The natural barrier provided by
the mountains protects it from the cool
northerly winds, making it possible to bathe
in the sea for 10 months of the year.

Cleopatra beach stretches out to the west
for almost 3 km; the name originates from
around 35 BC, when the emperor Mark Anthony
gifted Alanya to his Egyptian queen.

Alaadin Keykebut beach, with its golden sand
and shallow waters, stretches out to the
east and is a perfect spot for relaxing and
bathing.

Numerous beach cafes are ted along these
beaches and a wide range of watersports are
available, including para-sailing, jet-
skiing and windsurfing.

Traditional turkish boats and modern yachts
sit alongside each other in the picturesque
harbour. There are numerous bars and
restaurants lining the promenade, offering a
variety of mouth-watering dishes.

Alanya castle crowns the headland; at almost
300 metres above sea level, it offers a
spectacular viewing point. Built in 1231,
the castle is renowned as being one of the
most splendid sights in all of the
mediterranean. With 140 towers and extending
for some 6,500 metres, it is perhaps the
most dominant feature of Alanya.

As a modern and contemporary tourist resort,
Alanya boasts the highest bed capacity in
all of the Mediterranean and hosts around 2m
tourist visitors each year. There are
excellent options for accommodation, from
luxury all inclusive resorts to small,
charming boarding houses.

For a number of years, Alanya has played
host to a sophisticated Dutch, German and UK
market and more recently to an increasing
number of Scandinavians and citizens of the
Baltic state countries. Recent figures
indicate that around 25,000 foreign
nationals own property in Alanya and its
surrounding areas, an increase of 40% in
just over 3 years.

Combining a modern, tourism based
infrastructure with fabulous natural scenery
and sites of historical and cultural
significance, it is no wonder that so many
overseas visitors decide to make a second or
permanent home here.
