This charming 19th C guest house is set in
the center of the picturesque village of
Thenissey in the beautiful hilly Auxois
region of Burgundy (just 1 ˝ hours from
Paris by TGV, 3 hours by car). The house has
character and delightful historical detail,
once being the café-auberge and community
centre of the village: café, cinema, dances,
hunters` dinners, etc. The village also has
a Chateau that hosts weddings, conferences
and seminaries and it is located in a
tourist area, not far from the city of Dijon
(40 minutes), near the Abbey of Fontenay,
the medieval villages of Semur-en-Auxois and
Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, the Gallo-Roman site
of Alesia, the Chateau of Bussy Rabutin, and
many other sites. The village boasts a
quaint Romanesque church with rare wall
paintings from the 16th Century and is
surrounded by beautiful country walks and
paths and routes for cyclers. There is also a ranch in the village with a riding school, but also wonderful rides for tourists in the countryside. The house
currently serves as a B&B with a growing
clientele. The region is a destination for
vacationers, but also serves as a stop-over
for tourists from Northern Europe and France
on their way down to the South, many guests
in the B&B appreciate having a peaceful
place to stay on their way to and from their
final holiday destination. The house holds
great potential for any buyer as it can
easily be adapted to all needs. There are 2
extra guest rooms to finish renovating with
separate entrances at the back and one side
of the house, but the rest of the house has
been re-furbished with taste and is very
comfortable to live in as it is. Why not
come and stay for a weekend and discover it
personally?

The village is very family-friendly and
there are coaches that take the school
children to the nearest towns with primary
and secondary schools. The train is very
practical for going into Dijon (35 minutes
from the village itself!) and several
inhabitants take the train to work there
daily; it also goes to Venarey-les-Laumes
where you catch the direct trains to Paris.
The nearest bakery and little grocery shop
is a 5 minutes` drive away. Shopping
centers, doctors, dentists, etc. in Venarey-
les-Laumes (10 minutes` dive). There are
also daily deliveries of bread, and trucks
that sell groceries, and meat stop once a
week.
